2022 12/17 – L. Duane Allison

L. Duane  Allison, 79, of Bonnie, Illinois, passed away at 12:20 pm December 10, 2022, at his residence. He was born January 9, 1943, in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Drayton P. and Nadine (Bumpus) Allison. Duane married Linda L. (Anderson) Allison on February 23, 1962, in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

In addition to his beloved wife of sixty years, Duane is survived by his children, Jeffery (Gail) Allison of North Augusta, South Carolina, Steven (Jean) Allison of DuQuoin, Illinois, Stephanie (Doug) Maines of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Vicki (Terry) Oetjen of DeSoto, Illinois, Martina (Rich) Davis of Centralia, Illinois; grandchildren, Brad Allison, Mallory (Phillip) Westbrook, Kayla Ellis, Hannah Ellis, Haleigh Zimmerman, Tanner Oetjen, Kaitlyn Oetjen, Tyler Maines, Drayton Allison, Ryan Maines, Jacob Oetjen, Emaleigh Davis, Joseph Sypert; ten great-grandchildren; half-sister, Darlene Peckenpaugh of Madisonville, Kentucky; cousin, Donald (Mavis) Schwenninger of Opdyke, Illinois; brother-in-law, Jim Anderson and wife, Wilma of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Allison proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of Local 268 Sheet Metal in Collinsville, Illinois. He had served as an Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office for several years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 11:00 am at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn, Illinois with Pastor David Houseworth officiating. Full Military Rites will be held at the chapel by Mount Vernon American Legion Post #141. Inurnment will follow. Memorials may be made in Duane’s honor to the American Bladder Cancer Society.
