2022 12/08 – Martha Jane Tate

Martha Jane Tate, 91, of Odin passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022. She was born on April 5, 1931, the daughter of Ora and Bernice (Moyer) Tate in Odin.

Survivors include her sister-in-law Ann Tate of Centralia; nieces and nephews Rhonda Brown of Carmi, Ken Pitts of Odin, Tom (Ginger) Tate of Opelika, Alabama, Brenda Stanford of Flora, Marty (Gail) Pitts of Alma, Mary(Brad) Brimberry of Alma, Julia (Loren) Clark of Centralia, Susan (Steve) Spinner of Centralia, Terri (Donald) Beer of Centralia, Steve (Nita) Pitts of Salem, Barbara (Tony) Wimberly of Kinmundy, Randy (Barbie) Pitts Centralia, Lori (Clay) Thompson of Centralia, Kevin (Sandra) Tate of Centralia, Kim (Ian) Kapczynski of Cullman, Alabama, Bill (Beth) Tate of Centralia, and Amanda (Justin) Draper of Salem; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Elaine (Paul) Pitts, and Jean (Jim) Foltz; brothers Charles “Bud” Tate, and Joe (Sharon) Tate; and nephews Rocky Pitts, and John Pitts.

Martha was a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She loved to gather around the table to play Yahtzee, pinochle, and card games, enjoying memories made with family and friends. Martha loved to sit and visit, as the hours slowly melted away. She had a creative eye and made many scrapbooks over the years. Martha was an amazing sister, and aunt who made everyone feel welcomed and loved.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2022, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia with her nephew Kevin Tate officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to a visitation time from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. Memorials may be made in Martha’s honor to the Activity Fund for Fireside House.
