Helen Marie White, 78, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 6:44 pm December 1, 2022, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born August 30, 1944, in Fairfield, Illinois to the late Myers and Goldie (Atterberry) Dawson. Helen married Everett White on November 10, 1963. They were blessed with nearly fifty-five years of marriage before he preceded her in death on September 22, 2018.
Helen is survived by her sons, Rodney White of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Randall White of Belle Rive, Illinois; daughter, Cheryl Garcia and husband, Arthur of Aurora, Illinois; grandchildren, Tyler White of Dekalb, Illinois, Zachery Perry of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Randal White, Jr. of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Cassandra White of Mount Vernon, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Nolan White, Emilia White, Leila Perry, Silas Perry, Haedyn Ferguson, Saylor Richardson, Bristol Richardson; sisters, Doris McGuire of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Mary Ann Defoy and husband, Don of Camden, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Ronald and Jonathon Dahl, and one brother.
Helen was a member of Ten Mile Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and her family. Helen loved gospel music and loved to perform gospel music. She had a beautiful voice. Helen enjoyed sewing and loved to garden.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will begin at 7:00 pm with Reverend Jacob Gray officiating. Memorials in Helen’s honor may be made to Carmi Children’s Home.
