Fall harvest now ahead of average pace

Harvest progress has caught up and surpassed the average pace in Illinois.

There were a little over five days suitable for fieldwork this past week says Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener.

95% of winter wheat has been planted and 45% has emerged.  34% of the crop is rated in good to excellent condition.  Average statewide topsoil moisture increased to 10% very short, 12% short, 76% adequate and 2% surplus.

31% of pasture acres are rated in good to excellent condition.  Average statewide topsoil moisture came in at 10% very short, 12% short, 76% adequate and 2% surplus, an improvement over the previous week.
