All of South Central Illinois now at low transmission level for COVID-19

The Centers for Disease Control reports all of South Central Illinois is now at the low community transmission level.

The report for the week ending Thursday showed 17 new cases and one new hospital admission in Marion County.

Marion County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow reports no new COVID-19-related deaths during the week.  She says five congregate care facilities remain in outbreak status.  One facility has 13 positives, another has 12, and three have three positive cases apiece.

In Clinton County, 36 new or probable cases of COVID-19 were reported along with two new hospital admissions.   Jefferson County had 38new cases and three new hospital transmissions.   Washington County had under ten new cases and one new hospitalization.  Fayette County had 30 new cases and no new hospitalizations.  Clay County had 25 new cases and one new admission.  Wayne County had 14 new cases and one new hospital admission.

Statewide, there were 14,225 new confirmed cases and 54 additional deaths since October 28th.   There were 31 counties in the medium community spread category and none in the high level.

As of Thursday night, 1,081 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19.  Of those, 136 patients were in the ICU and 48 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
