Carolyn Jean Henson-Cannestra, 68 of Salem, Illinois passed away at her home on November 1, 2022.She was born February 2, 1954, in Salem, the daughter of Odell and Glenna M. (Hawkins) Henson who preceded her in death.Simple cremation was chosen by the family. The family invites you to gather with them for visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 pm Monday, followed by a memorial services at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 97, 310 N. Broadway, Salem, IL 62881 (618) 548-1234, entrusted with the family’s care. A dear friend Brad Green will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Centralia Humane Society-No Kill Shelter and will be received by the funeral home. A private burial will take place at Bell Cemetery, Iuka, Illinois.After graduating from Salem Community High School, Carolyn was an employee of GMP Trustee in Ft. Myers, FL, a private insurance company for 27 years. She returned to Salem after retirement to be close to her grandchildren, her first priority, and her family. She dearly loved her cat babies Garfield, Morris, Chubs, and Cody. She was especially talented at decorating and crafting.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her dear step-father Eugene Donoho, her husband Andy Cannestra, and Brandi’s father, Charles Sparks.Surviving is her daughter Brandi Stines and husband Matthew of Kinmundy, Step-daughter Rochelle Cannestra of Wisconsin, brothers Tommy Odell Henson and wife Debby of Iuka, IL, Owen Donoho and wife Tammy of Iuka, IL, a sister Norma Hofstetter and husband J. R. of Salem, IL and her dearly loved grandchildren, Cierra, Shyanne, Cheylyn, Matthew and Jalyn.
