Three Marion County Jail inmates were formerly charged in Marion County Court on Thursday with aggravated battery in a public place as a result of two separate fights in the county jail on Wednesday.

27-year-old Tyler Atchison of Wamac who is being held in lieu of $10,000 bond on criminal trespass to a residence charge is accused of starting a fight with another inmate in his cell who was not charged.

Both inmates were charged in the second fight.  They are 58-year-old Frank Rapp and 51-year-old David Hopper of Centralia.  Rapp was being held in lieu of $250,000 bond for possession of a weapon and ammunition by a felon and obstructing justice.  Hopper was already in custody in lieu of $100,000 bond for armed habitual criminal and aggravated battery.

Marion County Sheriff’s officials say there were no injuries in either fight.

No additional bond was set for the three.   Public defenders were appointed to represent all three on the new charges.
