Harry William Ilbery, 87, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away on September 27, 2022, at his residence. He was born April 21, 1935, in Saint Louis, Missouri to the late Charles and Sarah (Marbain) Ilbery. Harry married Linda Faye Ilbery on March 29, 1961. They were blessed with fifty-eight years of marriage before she preceded him in death on April 5, 2019.
Harry is survived by his son, Mark Ilbery and wife, Debbie of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughters, Gina Lewis and husband, Steve of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Kim Dent and husband, Barry of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Melody Bayer of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Lisa Ross and husband, Scott of Woodlawn, Illinois, Chasity Utlaut and husband, Shawn of Mount Vernon, Illinois; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and sister, Lenore Clark of Woodlawn, Illinois.
In addition to his parents and wife, Linda, Harry was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy L. Hails; son, Jimmy Dale Ilbery; grandson, Harley Joe Hails; and siblings, Mary Plemons, Charles Ilbery, Jr., Arlene Plemons, Betty Plemons, Wilma Joy Ilbery, John (Jack) Ilbery, Edie Pitchford, Earl (Butch) Ilbery.
Harry proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Central Christian Church. He had worked for the city of Mount Vernon for many years in the utility department. He loved being outdoors. Harry loved squirrels and enjoy taming them.
