2022 10/01 – Rae Dean Gill

Rae Dean Gill, 90, stepped over into Heaven on September 5th, 2022, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital. Rae’s heart’s desire was fulfilled at that time … being reunited with the love of her life, Bobby Gill, and Heaven her home.

Rae was loved by all who knew her. A bit of a spitfire, an avid sense of humor, and a born-again Christian. She readily shared the joy of the Lord with others. She wanted you to enjoy the joy-filled life she walked in. Rae was active in the community and in her church. She served as a community Girl Scout leader, PTO president, and First Aide instructor when her girls were young. Rae was a leader (Elder) in her local church, Grace Community Church. She assisted with county-wide gospel music festivals and National Day of Prayer observances for many years.

Rae was born and raised in Clay County IL. She completed the 12 grade at Clay City Community High School. Rae was swept off her feet by Bobby Gill, whom she met at work – Brown’s Shoe factory in Flora IL. They were married on January 29, 1953, in Clay City IL.

Rae Worked at Rose’s Dress Shop and Bridal for many years as a bridal consultant. When Rose’s closed, Rae work for Rose’s daughter, Bonnie at Expressions.

Preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, and 4 sisters. Parents: Joseph and Philabena (Schnautz) Weidner. Brothers: infant son, Fletcher, Milton, Norman, Gaylord, and Daniel. Sisters: Bonita Stanley, June Ogden, Audrey Barclay, and Lois Rosenlieb.

Rae is survived by two daughters. The first is Leslie (Gill) Allen and her husband Roger of Mount Vernon, Il. Grandson Chad Allen and wife, Melinda. Great grandchildren Lexie and Luke – all of Mount Vernon/Waltonville Il. The second daughter is Jan (Gill) Price and her husband Doug of Mount Vernon Il. Grandson Caleb Price and Presley of Shiloh IL. Rae is survived by many nieces and nephews.
