Entry forms are now available for the 51st Annual Little Egypt Festival Parade.   The parade will be held on Saturday, October 1st, at two pm.   The theme this year is ‘Our History is Our Heritage.   Lifetime historian Frank Brinkerhoff will serve as the Grand Marshall.

The entry forms are available at the WJBD studios at 310 West McMackin Street, at Salem City Hall, and at the east entrance of the Marion County Courthouse at the security desk.

The deadline for entries is Friday, September 23rd.   There is a mandatory meeting for 6 pm Tuesday, September 27th, at the Salem Bryan Bennett Library for all parade entries.   Everyone must have a representative present to be allowed in the parade.

Parade Chair Troy Cannon says rising costs have forced them to implement a fee on businesses and political parties.   There will be a $25 entry fee for businesses and $50 for political parties.   Cannon notes the Illinois Department of Transportation has made them double the amount of insurance they have to carry for the parade to use a state highway.
