A 21-year-old Opdyke man was ordered held without bond after being charged in Marion County Court Monday in connection with a Wamac home invasion and armed robbery.

Dreydyn Hart of North Opdyke Lane faces a Class X felony charge of home invasion for allegedly entering a home on Apple Avenue in Wamac on June 14th and causing injury to the occupant by striking her in the face with his hand.  He was charged with residential burglary for allegedly entering the home with intent to commit a theft.  Hart faces an armed robbery charge for allegedly taking an electric scooter by threatening the use of force.  He was also charged with criminal trespass to a residence, battery, and theft.

Wamac Police say Hart had a lookalike gun in his possession when he entered the home and at one point had forced the victim’s head into a pillow with the weapon held against the back of her head.   He left the home after hearing police sirens getting closer.  A man the victim was talking to on the phone when Hart broke in had apparently called the police.

Hart had left on the electric scooter before police arrived, but was later located at a home on Jefferson Street in Wamac where he was arrested without incident.   After permission was granted to search the home, the look alike gun was found in the home.

In ordering Hart held without bond, Judge Ericka Sanders noted he was out on pre-trial conditions in another case and it did not prevent further criminality.  She also ruled Hart presented a real and present threat to the victim.

Hart requested permission to hire an attorney.  A first appearance with counsel and preliminary hearing were set for July 8th at 11 am.
