Centralia High School’s 113th annual May Fete will take place in Trout Arena Thursday and Friday nights, with the theme of “Heavenly Rhythm.” The songs in this year’s performances feature “heaven” in the lyrics, or are by artists who have passed away. With this theme, the event includes a wide range of songs from the 80s, along with songs from the 60s and 70s.
Coordinator Jordan Coffey estimates that including court, performers and crew, there are about 200 students in total participating in this year’s May Fete. This year’s May Fete includes three open student dances and performances by band, choir, cheer, color guard, Rock 101, as well as the traditional May Pole.
Ahead of the last rehearsal on Wednesday night, Coordinator Kalina Aydt said that months of preparations go into putting May Fete together each year.
“Preparations begin very early in the school year,” Aydt said. “We have court elections in January, dance signups in February, and rehearsals for all of the performances begin at the end of February. Months of work going into two excellent nights.”
Tickets for May Fete are $5 apiece. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the event beginning at 8:00 p.m.
