Mary Jane Hollingsead, age 66, of Junction City, IL, passed away on April 25, 2026, at Foothills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Maryville, TN. Born on October 1, 1959, in Centralia, Illinois, she is the daughter of Robert Thomas Farnsworth and Edna Earl (Elliott) Farnsworth.

Mary Jane proudly served in the United States Army from 1981 to 1984, earning the rank of Sergeant. Her dedication and service to her nation left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Upon returning to civilian life, she continued her commitment to service as a longtime bartender at the Centralia American Legion, where her welcoming smile and caring nature endeared her to many.

Mary Jane’s love for her community was evident in her active membership with the Centralia American Legion Post 446, where she enjoyed calling BINGO numbers and socializing with fellow members. An avid reader, Mary Jane found great joy in books.

Mary Jane leaves behind a legacy of love through her cherished family. She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Barber (Thale) of Knoxville, TN, and Christina Pyle of Granite City, IL; her son Joseph Pyle (Sarah) of Ocala, FL; her brother Russell Farnsworth of Junction City; her sister Tammy Wallace of Salem, IL; eight grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Her warmth, humor, and kindness will be missed by all her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Robert Farnsworth and Edna Farnsworth, whose memories she cherished every day.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 4:00 pm at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia, with Military Honors accorded by the American Legion Post 446 and V.F.W. Post 2055 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO, at a later date.
