Clinton County Sheriff Dan Travous says that, given the amount of damage left behind by the Monday night storm, he finds it unbelievable that there were no injuries or fatalities.
He reports that the heaviest damage appears to be in the Germantown and Trenton areas. Travous says mobile homes were destroyed, trees are on top of homes, and many homes have limbs penetrating through roofs and walls in the Germantown area. In addition, several power lines snapped all over town. Travous says winds and falling trees damaged a small number of homes just south of Trenton.
As of this afternoon, Travous says power outages remain an issue across the county, but linemen from across the region are making great progress.
Travous says the Clinton County Emergency Management Agency is working with the Red Cross to help those displaced because their homes are uninhabitable. The Red Cross is helping those who are displaced. You can reach them at 1-800-Red-Cross.
Travous reports the sheriff’s department phone lines are working again.
Travous would like to thank all the agencies that called during the county’s time of need and offered help. All of the local fire departments and EMS agencies, along with linemen who worked through the night.
