The Salem Public Works Department has announced that City Wide Clean Up will take place on your normal garbage collection day next week.
The city’s garbage collection company, Sunrise Sanitation, will pick up acceptable items. No more than three furniture items will be picked up. In addition, residents may have a four foot by two foot high bagged, bundled, or boxed items of acceptable household garbage or rubbish.
You are asked not to bury your current trash totes in the cleanup pile. Please keep them separate.
Among the items that are not acceptable include white goods, household hazardous waste, medical waste, electronics, yard waste, construction materials, batteries, tires, liquids and gases, fencing, lawn mowers, propane tanks, and vehicle parts. See the complete list here:
Absolutely no items can be taken which were not from a source in the city limits. Businesses and residents outside the city limits are not included in this service. Any item not picked up due to noncompliance with the rules will become the responsibility of the property owner.
