South Central Cougars couldn’t keep up with St. Anthony and fell 11-1 on Wednesday.

 

The Bulldogs got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after a passed ball scored one run, and Will Bierman singled, scoring two runs.

 

St. Anthony added one run in the second. Aiden Lauritzen grounded into a fielder’s choice, making the score 4-0.

 

A walk by Curtis Tingley extended the Bulldogs lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the third inning.

 

St. Anthony scored five runs on two hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Quentin Stephens singled, scoring one run, Xander Beals drew a walk, scoring one run, Tingley was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Blake Verdeyen drew a walk, scoring one run.

 

Chase Dorris earned the win for St. Anthony. The righty allowed two hits and one run over five innings, striking out six and walking four. Garret Shumate opened the game for South Central. The hurler allowed one hit and three runs (two earned) over one inning, striking out one and walking four.

 

Twins Luke and Garret Shumate were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Farina South Central Varsity Cougars.

 

Shumate led South Central with one run batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Hudson Moore stole two bases. The Cougars didn’t commit a single error in the field. Colton Tockstein had the most chances in the field with three.

 

Bierman and Stephens were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for the Bulldogs while hitting back-to-back. Tingley and Stephens each drove in two runs for St. Anthony. Ben McDonald paced them with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing 15 walks for the game. The Bulldogs were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Roger Allen made the most plays with six.

 

South Central will welcome Carlyle Varsity Indians on Friday for their next game.
