Wildcats Fall To Breese Central To Open Cahokia Conference
Salem fell to 1-10 on the season with a 15-5 loss at home to visiting Breese Central. The Cougars led 5-1 in the 7th inning and scored 10 runs in the frame to take over the game. Brody Collier took the Salem loss allowing 5 earned runs and 8 strikeouts in 6.1 innings. Luke Boldt, Brenden Smith and Owen Tennyson had Salem hits. Smith drove in the lone Salem run. The Salem Wildcats will head to Belleville to take on East today.
Salem JV Ties Breese Central
The Salem JV finished their game with Breese in a 5-5 tie. Huck Mulvany had 4 hits to lead Salem. Landon White had an RBI double. Zane Applegate broke a 4-4 tie in the top of the 8th inning on an RBI double, but Brady Wuest singled home the tying run in the bottom of the inning when the game was called. Salem had 15 hits in the game. Applegate, Nicholi Marhanka and Jax Schaubert had multi-hit games.
Orphans Shutout Waltonville
Michael Organ and Archie Goewey combined to shutout Waltonville 8-0. The Orphans got an RBI double and hit by pitch from Dax Snow and Valon Williams to get on the board in the first. They added 2 more in the 3rd on a 2 RBI double from Preston Feig. Goewey added a solo homer in the 7th and earned the win going six innings. The Orphans are at Triad today.
Rams Open Conference With Win Over Marion
Mt Vernon knocked off Marion in South 7 play 5-1. Ryker Perigo had 2 hits, including a double, and drove home two runs. Nolan Mast added an RBi with Grant Holloway and Eli Prost scoring 2 runs. Ty Pierce added a single and stolen base. Cale Maurer went 5 innings for the win allowing 4 hits and striking out 11. The Rams are 6-5 and 1-0 in the conference.
OPS Routs Ramsey
Ben Spencer, Brady Cain and Austin Hoffman each had 3 hits as Odin/Patoka/Sandoval routed Ramsey 19-4. Drew Haines added 2 hits. The big OPS blow came when they scored 9 runs on five hits in the fourth inning. The Eagles are off today before hosting Waltonville tomorrow.
Woodlawn Beats CORLHS Despite Being Outhit
Christ Our Rock out-hit Woodlawn but the Cardinals still earned a 6-1 win over the Stallions. Blake Hanke and Brayden Albert each had 2 hits for Christ Our Rock. Garrett Denton drove in the Stallion run. Colton Cartright gave up 5 runs on 3 hits over 5.2 innings while striking out 5.
NC Outlasts Robinson in 10 Innings
The North Clay Cardinals outlasted Robinson 3-0 in 10-innings. Jack Compton and Cody Zimdars combined to pitch for the Cards combining to strike out 14. With the game scoreless in the 10th, North Clay got an Ian Jones single, Trenton Ingram then walked and Carder Walden hit a sac-fly, each driving in a run.
