Lady Cats Fall To Breese Central, Host Annies Today
The Salem Lady Wildcats held leads of 6-2 and 7-3, but Breese Central plated 4 runs in the sixth and tied the game at 8-8 in the top of the 7th to send the game to extra innings where they would win 11-8. Salem made 8 errors in the game. Jaelyn Keller homered for Salem driving in 3 runs. Katee Sellers and Isabella Decker added doubles with Sellers driving in 2 runs and Decker and Kenley Cripps adding RBI. Morgan Honerkamp worked all 8 innings allowing just 3 earned runs. The Salem softball team is at home today hosting the Annies at Tully Park.
Wangler’s Walk Off Leads Woodlawn Over Annies
Anistyn Wangler hit a solo walk-off home run as Woodlawn beat Centralia 2-1. The Annies trailed 1-0 when Kaylee Bowdler doubled to right field to tie the game in the fifth. Elyssa Schoenbaechler was the winning pitcher for Woodlawn. Emrie Quick took the loss for the Annies. Bowdler went 2-3 with that RBI, Kinsley Hawthorne also had 2 hits.
OPS Gets Win Over Grayville
Odin/Patoka/Softball beat Grayville 8-4. Bella Pearce gave up 4 hits and 1 earrned run over 7 innings. Pearce, Gwen Belcher and Abigail Draper had 2 hits each. Chelsey Haines tripled and drove in 3 runs as well. OPS will play Sesser-Valier tomorrow.
Mt Vernon Falls To Marion
In a South 7 showdown, Marion knocked off Mt Vernon 5-1. Alana Bryant was the winning pitcher allowing six hits and one run over 7 innings. Taylor DeSmith took the loss for Mt Vernon allowing 4 earned runs in six innings. Allie Sweeten drove in a run for the Lady Rams, Arwyn Wilkey went 2-3. The teams will meet again tomorrow in Mt Vernon.
CORLHS Routs McGivney Behind Oelze’s Big Day
Katie Oelze drove in 4 runs on 2 hits as Christ Our Rock beat Father McGivney 19-9. After McGivney tied the game at 4 in the top of the 3rd, the Stallions flipped the game on its head scoring 8 runs in the fourth. They then scored 7 runs on no hits in the fifth inning to put it away. Leah Kleiboeker and Oelze each had 2 hits while the team took advantage of 16 walks.
SC Shuts Out Altamont
South Central beat Altamont 10-0 in five innings. Lauren Johnson threw the 1-hitter allowing one walk and striking out 6. Zoey Feldhake went 3-3 with 3 RBI, Kinlee Thompson and Johnson drove in 2 with RBI from Amelia Montes and Annie Ruholl.
Freeburg beat Columbia in Cahokia softball play 4-3.
