LaVerne M. Fortmeyer, 98, of Irvington, passed away on Saturday, March 21st, 2026. She was born on May 30, 1927, in Centralia to William Tieman and Emma (Kottkamp) Tieman. She married Dean Fortmeyer in Irvington in 1947, and he preceded her in death on September 21, 2003.

LaVerne was a devoted dental assistant, building an esteemed career dedicated to helping others maintain their health and well-being. Outside of her professional life, she was an active and committed member of the Friedens United Church of Christ in Irvington, where her warmth and kindness touched many.

LaVerne is survived by her loving son, Blaine Fortmeyer of Irvington. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Emily Tate, along with her husband Steven of Salem, and Nathaniel Fortmeyer with his wife Inez of Flagstaff, AZ. She was also blessed with two beloved great-grandchildren, Caden Foraker and Maddox Tate.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Emma Tiemann, her husband, Dean Fortmeyer, her brother Norman Tiemann, and her sister Judy Lester.

A graveside service to honor LaVerne’s life will be held at Friedens UCC Cemetery in Irvington, IL, on May 11, 2026, at 11:00 am. Pastor Stacy Tate will officiate.
