The Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce is asking the City of Centralia to use Fairview Park to host the 37th Annual Balloon Fest on August 21st through the 23rd.

The decision to move to an alternative location was made after the Chamber discovered that the utility services in Foundation Park could no longer meet the event’s needs. With the event scheduled less than five months away, the Chamber began work on a new plan of action to ensure that Balloon Fest would continue.

The Chamber searched for locations that have utilities for vendors, space for hot air balloons, ample parking, and that enhance the economic impact the event may create. Fairview Park has all these amenities, plus more opportunities for improved activities, accessibility, free admission, and free parking.

“The urgency of the decision was based on the pending contracts for rentals, 100 craft vendors, 20 food vendors, 35 pilots, sponsors, volunteers, and other services. We are working closely with the City of Centralia leadership, public works, police, fire, and ESDA to ensure that Balloon Fest will be a success,” said Chamber Director Marcus Holland. “Having a new location opens the opportunity for us to look for new sponsors, new revenue streams, and opportunities to expand the event to meet the demands of attendees.”

The Chamber wishes to make this transition as easy as possible. Here are a few steps they have already taken to prepare for your questions or concerns:

  • The Chamber has met with City Administrators, Public Works, Police, Fire, and ESDA for safety, security, and emergency services.
  • United Medical Response will provide first aid and emergency services in the park.
  • Thanks to Ipanema Management, the Chamber has approval to use the parking lot at Fairview Park Plaza.
  • Thanks to Rachel Wallace, the Chamber has approval to use the green space next to Scooter’s Coffee for vendor and committee parking.
  • The Balloon Fest Steering Committee will remain with subcommittees, serving as an integral part of organizing craft vendors, food vendors, entertainment, hot air balloon events, volunteers, and more.

The Chamber’s request will appear on the agenda of the April 13, 2026, Centralia City Council meeting for intended action. Following the City Council’s decision, the Chamber will offer updates on next steps.
