Salem Township Hospital Chief Executive Officer Jim Timpe says work on the operating room renovation and expansion is wrapping up this week.
Timpe says the project will then be on hold before work will begin on the expansion and renovation of the emergency room.
“The state has thirty business days to approve us occupying the space, which they could take one day or thirty days, whatever works with them. Once they have approved us occupying that space, then the emergency room is going to move for one year. For one year, we’re temporarily moving the emergency room to an interior space in the hospital and our brand-new construction.”
Timpe says as a result, emergency room patients will get a preview of the new operating room area. He notes with the move of ER there will be some changes in the hospital’s traffic patterns. The entire $16-million project is scheduled to be completed in August 2027.
