Clyde E. Nolte, a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28th, 2026, at the age of 80.  Born on Wednesday, November 7th, 1945, in Carlyle, the son of Henry and Helen (Yardley) Nolte.

Clyde served his country in the United States Army. He was a registered land surveyor in the State of Illinois. Throughout his career, he contributed significantly to HM&G in Carlyle. His dedication to his profession was matched by his love for the land, which led him to farming with Lynn Wedekemper from 2008 until 2025. Clyde’s passion for the outdoors was evident in his love of farming, riding horses, and hunting. Known for his humor and kindness, Clyde was always ready to help anyone in need, endearing him to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. As a devoted member of Salem Lutheran Church, his faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and interactions with others. Clyde E. Nolte will be remembered for his steadfast love of family, his dedication to helping others, and his passion for life’s simple pleasures. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Clyde is survived by his loving daughters: Kelly Hall (Bill) of Odin, IL; Patti DeClue (Ron) of Odin, IL; Kimberly Ostertag (Scott) of Odin, IL; and his bonus daughter: Missy DeVore (John) of St. Louis, MO. His warmth and gentle spirit live on through his grandchildren: Ricki Hall (Rod) of Waynesboro, GA; Brad Knevitt (Lacie) of Centralia, IL; Michelle Hutchison (Jason) of Ft. Hood, TX; Brian Knevitt of Ogden, UT; Tabitha Spann (Shaun) of Murray, KY; Casey DeClue and her significant other Victor Rodriquez of Homestead, FL; and Sky Hall of Dubois, IL. The legacy continues with his cherished great-grandchildren: Ethan, Julian, Liliana, Korray, Adeline, Zyler, Elaina, Luna, Alice, Jenny, Wade, Lucas, Harley, Mark, Blayk and Dale.

Clyde was preceded in death by his son, Caleb Nolte; his nephew, Tim Nolte; his parents, Henry and Helen Nolte; and his brother, Jerry Nolte.

Per Clyde’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and a Celebration of Life Service will take place on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Salem Lutheran Church, located at 1401 Hawthorn Rd, Salem, IL 62881, with Pastor Ethan Hart officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salem Lutheran Church and/or the donor’s choice.
