The Salem Lady Wildcats softball team is back in action today when they travel to Centralia to play Christ Our Rock.
Leah Crompton drove in 4 runs on 4 hits as Christ Our Rock beat Maryville Christian 17-4. She tripled, doubled and hit a home run. Peyton Jett earned the win giving up 4 hits and 1 earned run over five innings of relief. Lilly Cain was the starter for Christ Our Rock giving up 1 hit and 2 runs with 3 strikeouts. Liv Torrence, Camryn Nolte, Leah Kleiboeker, Katie Oelze, Jett and Bailey Pingsterhaus all had multiple hits for the Lady Stallions.
Pyper Chapman went 3-4 as Centralia beat Herrin 10-8. Chapman hit a home run to go along with a pair of singles. Centralia didn’t take the lead until the sixth when they broke an 8-8 tie on a Kinsley Hawthorne 2-run double. Emrie Quick was the winning pitcher giving up 1 hit over 2 innings with 5 strikeouts. Centralia had 16 hits in the game. Hawthorne finished with 3 RBI. Kaylee Bowdler went 4-4 while Addisyn Dukes, Champan and Josie Venturini had multiple hits.
Despite trailing by 4 runs in the first inning, Odin/Patoka/Sandoval almost came all the way back eventually falling 9-8 to St Elmo/Brownstown. OPS had 10 hits in the game. Anabelle Garrett, Kalee Johnson, Bella Pearce, Gwen Belcher and Abigail Draper had 2 hits each. Draper drove in 3 runs. OPS plays at Mulberry Grove today.
Mt Vernon won the battle of the unbeaten as they beat Olney 1-0. Taylor DeSmith was great in the circle with the shutout stroking out 9. The only run of the game came from a Paige Watson sac-fly. Mt Vernon is 4-0.
South Central shutout Cisne 15-0 in four innings. Maddie Peddicord and Kinlee Thompson hit SC homers, both driving in 2 runs. Emmie Ruholl went 2-3 with a double and triple and drove in 3. Thompson was the winning pitcher allowing just 2 hits and striking out 6.
Mater Dei is 4-4 after a 12-2, six inning win over Wesclin. Carissa Rich led the Lady Knights with 4 hits, including 2 doubles, with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Emma Diekemper homered and doubled with 4 RBI. Ellisen Wheelan added 2 hits and 3 RBI. Taylor Robert was the winning pitcher.
