The Salem Wildcats fell to 0-7 on the high school baseball season with a 13-0 home loss to Centralia yesterday in front of a good crowd at Salem High School. Rhett Lambert led the Orphans going 3-3 with a double, single and triple. Centralia scored first in the first on a Michael Organ RBI groundout he would finish with 3 RBI. They added an unearned run in the 2nd and in the top of the 3rd broke it open when Dax Snow and Will Stanton singled to each score runs and a Salem error scored another. Stanton finished with 2 RBI. Valon Willians was the winning pitcher giving up 2 hits over 5 shutout innings. Aaden Rostance took the loss allowing 7 runs, five earned on six hits in 3 innings. Eli LoGrasso and Carter Lowe had the Salem 2 hits.
The Orphans are right back at it today with a game at Olney.
North Clay remained undefeated with a 4-0 shutout of Edwards County. Jack Compton and Cody Zimdars each threw in the win. Compton struck out 10 allowing 4 hits over 6 innings. Ian Jones drove the middle of the Cards lineup with 2 RBI going 2-3.
Maryville Christian scored 8 runs in the fifth inning to break open their game with Christ Our Rock and win 15-3. Evan Beal’s flyout put the Stallions on the board in the top of the 3rd and tied the game early. Blake Hanke took the loss allowing 7 runs, but only 1 was earned. Hanke and Colton Cartright each drove in a run. Brayden Albert, and Drew Lueking also had hits. Christ Our Rock hosts South Central.
Mater Dei lost 11-9 to Wesclin as the Knights win their first game in 4 tries this spring and Mater Dei falls to 1-2. Hayden Melone had 2 hits with a triple and 3 runs scored while Adrian Rendon had 2 hits and 5 RBI. Ayden Peterson had 2 hits including a 2 run homer for Wesclin. Mater Dei hosts St Teresa today.
