The Salem Lady Wildcats dropped a tough one to Effingham 10-9 at Tully Park.  Salem overcame early 5-0 and 6-1 deficits to go ahead 8-6 before the Hearts tied it in the sixth and scored twice in the 7th to win.  Marah Johnson had 3 hits including a home run, triple and 3 RBI.  Isabella Decker was a triple shy of the cycle and drove in 2.  Jaelyn Keller had 2 doubles and an RBI and Emma Lipe singled in the go ahead run in the 4th.  Maci Hayes and Gieah Schlanser homered for the Hearts.  It was win #501 for longtime Effingham coach Jerry Trigg.

Kinsley Hawthorne drove in 4 runs on two hits, including a home run, leading Centralia over Benton 15-0.  The Annies broke the game open with 7 runs in the 2nd inning.  Emrie Quick struck out 14 allowing no hits and no runs over the 5-inning complete game.  Hawthorne, Kaylee Bowdler, Addysyn Dukes, Pyper Chapman, Mackenzie Perez and Josie Venturini each had 2 hits.  Centralia is at Herrin today.

Odin/Patoka/Sandoval lost to Breese Central 9-4.  Bella Pearce took the loss going all seven innings and allowing just 2 earned runs.  She also drove in 2 runs on the day at the plate.  Anabelle Garrett, Kallee Johnson, Pearce, Gwen Belcher and Kenzi Wilkerson collected OPS hits.  Dalanee Materkowsi as the winning pitcher for Mater Dei allowing 5 hits over 5 innings.  OPS is back at it today against St Elmo/Brownstown.

Danicah Tobin was dominant in the circle ringing up 11 strikeouts in Mt Vernon’s 7-2 win over Herrin.  She allowed just 4 hits in the complete game.  Arwyn Wilkey had 3 hits including a home run.  Tobin and Wilkey had 3 hits each.  Taylor DeSmith, Wilkey and Tobin drove in 2 runs, Mia Porter also had 2 hits for the Lady Rams who improve to 3-0 and travel to Olney today.

 

Maddie Peddicord homered and drove in 2 runs. Emmie Ruholl tripled and doubled driving in 3 runs. Kinlee Thompson also hit a home run and drove in 2 runs. Amelia Montes and Perci Reid drove in runs. Thompson was the winning pitcher allowing 2 hits with 6 strikeouts and just 1 walk in the win. She needed just 53 pitches.
