The Salem Lady Wildcats not only honored their 5 Seniors prior to the start of their one and only home meet on Tuesday, they came ready to compete!
Salem hosted Centralia, Marion, and Mt Vernon, and the Lady Wildcats opened their outdoor season with several top finishes and personal bests.
Finishing in first place for the Lady Wildcats were Sophomore Carly Veach in the 100 Hurdles (16.10), 300 Hurdles (48.60), and Varsity 200 Meters (27.60), Senior Finley Puricelli in the 400 Meters (1:02.53), Sophomore Blaike Jourdan in the Pole Vault (8’3”), and Freshman Eniya Jones in the Fresh/Soph 100 Meters (14.36).
Second place finishers for the Lady Wildcats included the 4X100 Relay team of Kinsey Jarrett, Eniya Jones, Carly Veach, and Finley Puricelli (52.22), Senior Hannah Smith in the Discus (122’10.5”), Senior Finley Puricelli in the High Jump (4’8”), Senior Kinsey Jarrett in the Long Jump (15’9”) and Triple Jump (30’2”), and Freshman Emily Parrett in the Shot Put (33’10.5”).
Additionally, third place finishers for the Lady Wildcats were Junior Brylee Pennypacker in the Discus (100’10.5”) and Emily Runyon in the Pole Vault (7’6”).
Fourth place finishers for the Lady Wildcats included, Senior Ella Smith in the Shot Put (30’8.5”), Sophomore Jazmin Guzman in the Fresh/Soph 200 Meters (30.51), Freshman Emily Parrett in the Discus (95’3.5”), the 4X200 Relay team of Kayleigh Jarrett, Nola Allison, Jazmin Guzman, and Eniya Jones (2:03.34), and the 4X400 Relay team of Kinsey Jarrett, Kennadi Simmons, Raquel Vittitow, and Finley Puricelli (4:57.86).
Finishing in fifth place for the Lady Wildcats were Freshman Nola Allison in the Fresh/Soph 100 Meters (14.82) and Fresh/Soph 200 Meters (31.89), and Sophomore Kayleigh Jarrett in the Varsity 200 Meters (29.71).
Lady Wildcats finishing in the Top 12 included, Sophomore Jazmin Guzman in the Varsity 100 Meters, Freshman Eniya Jones in the Fresh/Soph 200 Meters, Freshman Kennadi Simmons in the 800 Meters, Freshman Piper Morton in the 1600 Meters, and Freshman Raquel Vittitow in the 809 Meters.
The Lady Wildcats will run again next week with meets at Herrin and Marion.
