An unoccupied garage on the Joe and Lisa Wagner property in the 2500 block of State Route 161 east of Centralia was destroyed in a Sunday afternoon fire, with some damage to two other structures.

Centralia Fire Protection District Chief Ross Boshera says upon arrival they found the initial 26 by 30 foot garage fully involved in fire.  The building had collapsed and the fire had started to spread to 30 by 30 and 40 by 70 foot structures.  The fire spread to the corners of the buildings and caused some damage to the walls and inside of the roof.  Firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading any further.

Boshera says the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Centralia Fire Protection District was assisted with mutual aid on the scene by the Centralia City Fire Department, Irvington, Kell, Mt. Vernon, Odin and Sandoval.   Salem and Patoka Firemen stood by at the Centralia Fire Protection District in the event of another fire.  Lifestar Ambulance stood by at the scene, but no injuries were reported.

Firemen received the call at 2:40 Sunday afternoon and were on the scene for about two hours.
