The Centralia City Council Monday night will be asked to approve a resolution to seek a federal community project grant through Congressman Mike Bost to purchase a new fire truck.
City Manager Galen Mahle is recommending $1 million be sought. The other $100,000 needed for the purchase would come from the city’s general fund. The money would allow for replacement of a 1993 Seagrave pumper truck.
Malen notes a new engine will add reliability to the department as the other engines have had significant repairs over the past few years. He notes there are also safety reasons for the staff tied to the request.
The council will be asked to approve a four year collective bargaining agreement with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 399. The city has recently approved no contracts with two of the police unions as well as the firefighters.
The meeting begins at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
