A vacant home on Centralia’s demolition list burned in an early Thursday morning fire.

Centralia City Firemen say the home at 429 North James was fully engulfed in flames and through the roof upon their arrival.  The fire was spotted by a passerby who went to a neighbors home to report the blaze.

Firemen say the back door of the home had been kicked in and there was no gas or electric utility making the fire suspicious.

The burning home was only five feet from an occupied residence.  Firemen were able to keep the fire from spreading to the other home.

All available Centralia City Firemen were called to the scene and the Centralia Fire Protection District was called for mutual aid.  Sandoval Firemen stood by at the main Centralia city fire station in the event of another fire.

The fire call came in at 3:30.   Firemen were on the scene until 6:15 Thursday morning.  There were no reports of injuries.
