The Centralia Orphans improved to 31-1 on the season with a 33-22 regional championship win over Mt Vernon at Trout Arena. The game was tied at 8-8 at the halftime break as Mt Vernon utilized stalling to try and keep the game close. The Orphans took the lead in the third quarter and went on to the victory. Archie Goewey had 11 to lead the Orphans, Devin Meier added 9. Dave Barnes had 9 to lead Mt Vernon. The Orphans advance to the Waterloo Sectional on Tuesday at 7pm when they take on Triad after the Knights won at home beating Glenwood 41-20.
The other semifinal at Waterloo will see the East St Louis Flyers taking on Jacksonville on Wednesday. The Flyers eliminated Marion to win the Mascoutah Regional 65-53 and Jacksonville beat Civic Memorial at Jerseyville 45-26.
