Marion County Coroner Claude Howell says an autopsy confirms that a 40-year-old Farina man died from a massive heart attack while in the drive through line at the Salem Taco Bell last Thursday night.
Jason Bowen had become suddenly ill while in his vehicle. As he was being removed from the vehicle by United Medical Response he suffered the heart attack. Efforts to revive him in the ambulance and hospital were not successful.
Howell says the autopsy showed major coronary artery blockage. He notes Bowen also had a history of heart disease in his family.
Bowen was a firefighter with Farina Fire Department and earlier was Assistant Chief at Edgewood Fire Dept. for 12 of his 22 years with the fire service.
Funeral services are being held for Bowen at noon Monday at the Pagel Funeral Home in Edgewood. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be left at pagelfuneralhome.com.
