Fire has damaged a mobile home in Wamac.

Centralia Fire Protection District Chief Ross Boshera says the fire was at a mobile home owned by Paul Snyder at 314 Frazier.

The fire appeared to have started in the living room.  There was heavy damage to the living room and its contents.  The rest of the home sustained smoke damage.

The family had been away and arrived to discover that their home was on fire.

The Centralia Fire Protection District initially called Sandoval and Irvington for mutual aid, but canceled them before they arrived, as the fire was quickly extinguished.  Odin firefighters stood by at the Centralia Fire Protection District in the event of another fire.

Centralia City Firemen had initially been called for mutual aid, but were diverted to a car fire in Wamac.  City firemen say Lashuntia Brantton was driving on Jefferson near Cherry when smoke started coming out of the engine compartment.  The amount of smoke continued to grow before the engine compartment was engulfed in flames.  Brantton got out of the vehicle without injury.   Firemen say the car will be a total loss.  The cause of the fire has not been determined.  The car is owned by Tonja Maines.  The report came in at 4:26 Saturday afternoon.
