The Centralia McDonald’s restaurant was closed Thursday morning following a fire in a bun warmer.
Centralia City Firemen say employees were able to put out much of the fire with a fire extinguisher before leaving the building and calling 9-1-1. Just a few flames were showing from the bun warmer upon the department’s arrival. They put out the fire with a small amount of water without having to use a hose.
Firemen then used a large fan to clear smoke from the building.
The alarm came in a 4:18 Thursday morning as employees were getting ready to open for the day.
After getting back in the building, a clean-up of the kitchen area was needed before McDonald’s could reopen. After an inspection by the Marion County Health Department the restaurant was cleared to reopen at 11 Thursday morning.
