A 42-year-old rural Mt. Vernon man has died in a chainsaw accident while cutting down a tree at his home on Forest Road in rural Mt. Vernon.
Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard identifies the victim as Christopher Ellis. He reports Ellis’ wife discovered him unresponsive in the yard of his home around ten Tuesday night and called 9-1-1.
The sheriff says there was no evidence of foul play, but rather an accident that caused the fatal injury.
Sheriff’s Deputies, a Detective, EMS personnel, and Coroner Roger Hayse responded and declared Ellis deceased at the scene.
