A Marion County Highway Department employee was treated at Salem Township Hospital Tuesday for apparent minor injuries after falling into the side of a moving car when losing his footing while filling a pothole.
The incident occurred on the Walnut Hill Road near the Oniontown Road in rural Walnut Hill.
55-year-old William Marcum was working as part of a two-man crew when the incident occurred just before ten Tuesday morning.
The car that struck Marcum stopped and asked if he was okay and then proceeded on.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department wants to talk to the driver as part of their investigation into the incident. The driver of the red SUV is asked to get in contact with the department.
Marion County Highway Engineer Alex Kreke says the patching crew was working with a truck with its lights on and signage out when the incident occurred.
