The Kinmundy City Council Thursday night passed ordinances finalizing two businesses locating in the city owned building on Madison Street. Both businesses already are in operation.
Under the ordinance, the flower shop Sparkling Blooms and Blessings will pay $800 a month while John and Andy Diss operating Downtown Deals Resale will pay $550 a month. The board also agreed to pick up $2,000 of the total $2,800 cost to install new flooring in the flower shop that has located in the former museum space.
The board agreed to add a $75 fee for those needing after hours turn on of water service. The fee will cover the overtime cost the city has to pay to call out workers after hours. Emergency turn offs of water for breaks will continue to be provided free of cost.
The board also agreed to spend $2,500 to purchase a quick release front blade to be used on the city tractor to clear snow on roadways. City workers had issues during the last snow due to operational problems with the city dump truck. Mayor Angie Diss noted they couldn’t criticize the work done by the city crews if they were not provided the proper equipment.
There will be further discussion at the next meeting on cleaning both the inside and outside of the water tower.
