Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies say two Centralia residents were treated on the scene of a single car crash early Sunday morning at 4507 East Carpenter Road in rural Walnut Hill.

22-year-old Hunter Berry told deputies he was traveling east on East Carpenter Road when he swerved to avoid striking a deer crossing the roadway.  He then lost control of his vehicle and entered the ditch on the south side of the roadway.  Once in the ditch, Berry’s vehicle continued east and struck a tree before coming to a stop.

Berry and his passenger, 21-year-old Abigail Boyce of Centralia, were treated on scene by EMS for minor injuries.

No citations were issued.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies were joined on the scene by Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies, Centralia Police, the Centralia Fire Protection District as well as Lifestar and Litton’s Ambulance services.

The crash occurred at 12:53 Sunday morning.
