The Centralia city website now has a new tool to help prospective business owners in Centralia identify available incentives by location. The public can now access an interactive map that shows Centralia’s TIF districts, the Greater Centralia Enterprise Zone and the Opportunity Zone, as well as details on each area and the incentives they offer. Speaking at the city council meeting on Monday, Economic Development Director Rob Jackson said that the map will be a valuable tool for those investing in Centralia.
“The map will make things so much easier for everyone. It’s simple clicks, it’s laid out really well, and it’s simple to use. It’s going to be a great tool for anyone looking to do business or anyone internally here… It’s multilayered, so you’ll be able to see everything the city has to offer as far as our incentives go right off the bat.”
The map was created by Luke Easton of the South Central Illinois Regional Planning and Development Commission, who began work on the project in October of last year.
In other business at Monday night’s meeting, the council approved annual contracts with Metro-Ag for removal and transportation of water treatment plant and wastewater treatment plant.
The council also approved disbursement of TIF funding in the amount of $12,000 to the owners of Re:purpose Development for facade improvements on the Colden Brewery property.
An engineering report from Milano and Grunloh engineers was delayed until the next city council meeting due to a change in availability for the Milano and Grunloh representative.
