A 76-year-old Mt. Vernon man was injured in a one-vehicle crash in the 8000 block of Richview Road near the Boyd Road intersection in rural Mt. Vernon, Monday afternoon.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies say upon arrival, they made contact with the driver, Gerald Mays. They were able to determine that Mays was driving westbound on Richview Road when his vehicle veered off the road and hit an embankment, causing the vehicle to roll over and strike a power pole guidewire before coming to a stop in the driveway of 8064 East Richview Road.
Mays was extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to St. Louis University Hospital from the scene of the crash that occurred at 1:54 Monday afternoon.
