Centralia Police say one person was injured and one of the drivers was arrested for alleged driving under the influence when two cars collided at 2nd and Poplar in downtown Centralia Friday night.
Police reports indicate a car driven by 58-year-old Michael Hayes of East Calumet in Centralia was stopped at the red light on Poplar Street and was struck in the rear by a car driven by 22-year-old Oliver Candler of South Walnut in Centralia. Chandler was arrested for alleged DUI and was given a notice to appear in court.
Both drivers were uninjured, but a passenger in the Hayes vehicle was taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. She was identified as 64-year-old Tina Hayes of East Calumet in Centralia.
The crash occurred at 10:35 on Friday night.
