The Salem Lady Wildcats handed Freeburg just their 2nd conference loss of the year as they led from start to finish in a 42-33. Jordan Kessler moved further up Salem’s all-time scoring list as she finished with 21. Kale Benjamin added 8. Freeburg freshman Rayshiona Raymond had a huge game as she finished with 5 points, 12 rebounds and 6 blocked shots. Madi Spenner was 4-7 from the three point line to lead the scoring with 12. The win moves Salem ahead of Columbia for sole possession of 3rd place. Salem will return to action Saturday as part of Mega Day and Black Out at Centralia.
Also in the conference last night, Roxana beat Wood River 56-33, but in the loss the Lady Oilers KayLynn Buttry broke the single season scoring record of 508 points after scoring 20 last night and now sits at 520 on the year.
Marion beat Mt Vernon 64-40 and clinched a share of their first South 7 title since 1988. They can win it outright at home Wednesday when they host Centralia.
