The last remaining part of the former Fairview Park swimming pool in Centralia has been torn down.   The bathhouse was leveled by a backhoe this week.

Centralia City Manager Galen Mahle says the building was becoming increasingly problematic and had no potential use in future park improvements.  He reports that the city will revisit the improvement plan for that portion of the park later this year or in early 2027.  Mahle says that in 2026, the city will complete improvements to Laura Leake Park.  The city received a grant to help pay for those improvements.

Mahle says the pool committee’s proposal to install a splash pad as a less expensive alternative to a new Fairview Park pool could be revisited alongside other ideas.   Mahle noted he has been asked about developing pickleball courts that are not part of the tennis courts.
