Roland E. Miller Sr., 90, of Centralia, passed away into the arms of his Lord
and Savior, Monday, January 19, 2026. He was born by the hands of a
midwife on September 18, 1935, in Beckley, WV, the son of Lee T. and
Lelia (Staples) Miller. He married Evon Killion on June 6, 1959, in Centralia
and she survives him in Centralia.

Along with his beloved wife of 66 loving years, Evon Miller, survivors that
will mourn the passing of Roland include his sons, Roland (LeeAnn) Miller
Jr, of TX, Kenneth (Marcia) Miller of GA, Randall Miller of IL, and David
Miller of PA; four grandsons, Roland III, Matthew, Stephen, and Cassius;
two granddaughters, Kenif, and Marti; several great-grandchildren;
brothers, Murvin Miller of OH, and Harold Miller of OH; sister, Marva Miller
of NC; and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family members, and
friends.

Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Lelia Miller; and his
brothers, Andrew Miller, and Alvin Miller.

Roland was a proud United States Air Force veteran. He was a faithful
member of the Second Missionary Baptist Church in Centralia. He was a
member of Alpha Phi Alpha, as a 1975 graduate a member of the Southern
Illinois Alumni Association, and a lifetime member of the Illinois Police
Association. Roland worked as a police officer for thirty-one years, vowing
to protect and serve the community of Centralia, that he called home.
Retirement opened Roland’s schedule up, allowing him to travel to
interesting destinations. He enjoyed going to casinos for a chance to win
and unwind. Roland was a protective family man who loved nothing more
than time spent making lasting, treasured memories with his family and
friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 30,
2026, at the Second Missionary Baptist Church in Centralia with Rev. Isaac
Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia,
where military rites will be accorded by Centralia VFW Post 2055 and the
American Legion Post 446. Relatives and friends are welcome to a
visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the
Second Missionary Baptist Church in Centralia. Memorials may be made in

Roland’s honor to Second Missionary Baptist Church and will be accepted
for his family at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. Online
