The Salem Community Activity Center had a good crowd for its Community Garage Sale on Saturday even with a major snowstorm about to begin.
Executive Director Marcie Auvil says there was a paid attendance of 250 to view the 170 tables of merchandise.
“We are so grateful that everyone was brave and came out,” Auvil said. “It’s chilly, but not in here. We’ve got a lot of vendors. We have some by donations and some that are priced. We were grateful to get a donation to let the first 50 people in, and we had those tickets already gone in the first four minutes. Our concession stand is run by Smokin Snow’s Barbecue, and she’s taking a dollar off of everyone’s order who did have to pay to get in.”
Auvil says with a successful event last summer and another this weekend, they plan to hold the community garage sales twice a year in January and July going forward.
