The Centralia City Council approved a resolution at its regular meeting on Monday allowing the Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce to serve as administrative agent for the Centralia Tourism Commission. As administrative agent, the chamber of commerce works with the tourism commission to develop marketing strategy and the “See Centralia” tourism identity. The chamber assumed this role in July 2025 and has now been renewed for the entirety of 2026 at a monthly rate of $2,500.

The city council also approved agreements with Gonzalez Companies LLC for engineering services on three projects: road construction on South Perrine from the Norfolk Southern railroad to East Calumet Street at a cost of up to $220,000, a drainage study of Holiday Terrace at a cost of $32,500, and roadway maintenance on East Calumet between Oakdale and Airport Road.

Centralia City Manager Galen Mahle says the TIF #3 extension has had all required paperwork and letters of support submitted, is expected to be brought to the floor of the state legislature in the upcoming spring session.

Mahle reports that annual water/sewer rates have increased with the Consumer Price Index, resulting in a 3.2% increase that will be reflected in the January water bill.

The city of Centralia has posted a job opening for a code enforcement officer/building inspector. The position is posted on the city website and will remain open until filled.
