A Marion County Judge has ordered a homeless Centralia man held without bond after being charged in court Tuesday with two counts of retail theft and criminal trespass to property.  Mitchell Finley had told a judge last Friday he would ‘rob again’ after his request to be held in the Marion County Jail was denied after he was charged with Christmas Day burglaries at the Crossroads Church and Kaskaskia Workshop.

Finley apparently followed through quickly as he was arrested a short time after leaving the courthouse at the Salem Moto Mart for retail theft of a package of beef jerky.  But Finley still didn’t get his wish to go to jail as Salem Police gave him a notice to appear on the new charge.

Finley got arrested again at the Moto Mart store on Monday after allegedly stealing another package of beef jerky and telling the clerk on the way out to call police.  He was arrested nearby and taken to the Marion County Jail to await Tuesday’s court hearing where he was ordered held.

In approving the order revoking pretrial release, Judge Mark Stedelin said he was doing so to prevent Finley from being charged with additional felony or Class A misdemeanor.

Finley is scheduled to be back in court on February 10th for a preliminary hearing on the charges.
