A 34-year-old homeless Salem man has been charged in Marion County Court with failure to register as a sex offender.
Russell Wimberly had the public defender appointed to represent him and a preliminary hearing set for January 13th during his first appearance in court on Monday. He had been arrested on Saturday by Salem Police.
The charge is a Class Two felony because of a prior conviction and if there is a conviction on the new charge Wimberly is eligible for an extended sentence.
