Patricia Diann McCabe, 82, of Vernon, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
Pat was born in Harrisburg, IL, on October 25, 1943, to the late Loren and Avolene Vaughn. She married Charles McCabe on September 2, 1967, in the Fairview Baptist Church near Creal Springs.
She was employed by the Nattier Oil Co until its closing and then went to work at Wal-Mart in Vandalia, Illinois in the jewelry department. She taught Sunday School, and was a G.A. leader, and member of the First Baptist Church in Patoka. She was currently attending Fairman Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and her family the most.
Pat is survived by her husband, Charles; her daughter, Christina McCabe of Harrisburg, Illinois; her brother, Jerry (Linda) Vaughn of Creal Springs, and their daughter, Amanda (Carl) Harris; her great niece, Avolene; and her sister, Sharon Vaughn of Marion, Illinois.
Visitation for Pat will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. in the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, where the funeral will be held at 12:00 noon. Rev. David Rogers will officiate, and burial will follow in the New Salem Cemetery south of Creal Springs.
The preferred choice of remembrance is memorials made to the New Salem Cemetery or the Bankston Fork Baptist Church, Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
