Lady Wildcats Knock off Newton in Tight Contest….Girls Scores
The Salem Lady Wildcats won their 4th straight game to improve to 8-3 after beating visiting Newton 42-39. With the game tied with under a minute to go Jordan Kessler hit a 3 pointer to put Salem up. Kale Benjamin then got a steal and hit 2 free throws to extend the lead as the Lady Cats would hold on. Jordan Kessler had 19 points to lead Salem. Benjamin finished with 9. Salem also won the JV game 43-24. The Lady Cats continue Cahokia play on the road Thursday at Freeburg.
Carlyle beat Centralia 49-42. In the loss for the Annies Marley Edson had 9 points. Alex Johnson led Carlyle with 23
Woodlawn outscored SC 26-5 in the third quarter on their way to a 55-28 victory. Perci Reid led SC with 8 points, Baylee Brown and Lauren Johnson had 7 each.
Thompson & Ruholl Honored On Historic Night in TTown
TTown beat St Anthony in the Rivalry Clash at TTown last night on a very special night 45-40. After the game, TTown coach Laurie Thompson was honored for win #500 she achieved last time out in a win over Olney. Also during the game, St Anthony standout Nancy Ruholl became the first basketball player, boy or girl at St Anthony, to get to 2000 career points as she scored 29 in the loss.
