Norman was a proud veteran, having been drafted into the Army during the Vietnam era, where he served his country with honor. After his military service, he returned to Centralia, where he shared his hardworking and cheerful nature with colleagues at the Hollywood Candy Factory for several years. He later found fulfillment in his role at St. Mary Church in Centralia, diligently serving as the janitor, ensuring the sanctuary was always welcoming and serene.

Norman shared a deep bond with his only surviving sister, Doris Sanders, also of Centralia.. His legacy of kindness and humor lives on in the hearts of numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was cherished by his good friend, Ron Hacker, affectionately known as “Big Bird,” and his wife, Theresa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruby Hirsch, and siblings Richard Hirsch, Verla Monical, Kenneth Hirsch, and Phyllis Knox; nephew, Keith Crane and Jeff Monical; and a dear friend, John A. Abrams. Despite these losses, Norman remained a steadfast source of support and warmth to his extended family and friends.
